Sun Prairie residents will have some important decisions to make when they head to the polls on April 2. And the Sun Prairie Media Center is offering programming to help residents make those decisions. SPMC recorded the SPARC (Sun Prairie Action Resource Coalition) Candidate Forum on March 3 at the Sun Prairie Public Library. This debate featured candidates for Dane County Board, Sun Prairie City Council and Sun Prairie School Board. This event aired live on KSUN Now. Another Groundhog Day in Sun Prairie has come and gone. Thanks to loyal volunteers at KIDS4 and The SUN, we will have memories from this event. KIDS4 crewmembers Olivia and Madeline got up bright and early to brave the cold weather on February 2 and headed down to Cannery Square to see what Jimmy had in mind for the upcoming weeks. Also, Team Milewski (Todd, Sara, Megan and Wyatt) helped broadcast the event live on the radio. The Sun Prairie Media Center is thrilled to announce its 2023-2024 broadcast schedule of upcoming boys and girls home basketball games for Sun Prairie East and West high schools. Sun Prairie basketball fans will be able to follow all four teams through Sun Prairie Media Center coverage on KSUN Now (Spectrum 983 and TDS 983/1983) and KSUN Life (TDS 985/1985) and online at sunprairiemediacenter.com/ksun/. The Sun Prairie Media Center is pleased to announce the unveiling of a new mobile app, now available for free download from the App Store or Google Play. This new app, which can be found by searching “Sun Prairie Media Center” in either the App Store or Google Play, was developed by the SPMC in collaboration with a different provider than the previous SPMC app and therefore needs to be manually downloaded. It is an entirely new app and will not automatically update to users with the previous app on their device. Sun Prairie Stories is a new program on 103.5 FM, WLSP-LP, Sun Prairie’s Community Radio station. It debuts Monday, September 11 at 11:30am. Episodes re-air at 5:30 on Thursday afternoons, and can be streamed any time on the Sun Prairie Media Center app. Hosted by SPMC volunteer, Sara Milewski, Sun Prairie Stories grew out of a limited-run pandemic project she did to take the place of the Sun Prairie Multicultural Fair. On the Multicultural Fair Radio Reboot, she interviewed community members who are active in community agencies that serve communities of color in Sun Prairie and Dane County. “My favorite part about doing the Multicultural Fair Radio Reboot was hearing people’s stories. The Sun Prairie Media Center (SPMC) is excited to be unveiling a new video channel, set to launch on TDS and all of SPMC’s streaming platforms on September 1, 2023. The channel, called “KSUN Life,” will focus on non-live original programming created by SPMC’s diverse stable of community producers. Programs featured on the new channel will include “Talk of the Town,” “Reel Reviews,” “Weekly Chat,” “Marc Carstens Sports,” “Roundabout Sun Prairie,” and many others. And this year the Sun Prairie Media Center is back again with double the football as the SPMC is planning coverage of every Sun Prairie Cardinals and every Sun Prairie Wolves game! Home games are scheduled to be broadcast on KSUN (Spectrum cable channel 983, TDS channels 13 and 1013) with away games scheduled to be broadcast on the new KSUN Life channel which is set to launch on TDS on August 31 on channel 985.
