First is the return of “Community Conversations,” which features Esser and Economic Development Director Taylor Brown going over the State of the City, including a look at the breakdown, impact, and distribution of residents’ tax bills, as well as challenges and successes the City had in 2021 and what major steps will be taken in the upcoming year. The Sun Prairie Media Center is happy to announce the return of “Community Conversations” for the second year. “Community Conversations” is a special produced with the intent of informing the Sun Prairie community about what happened within the city during 2021 and what lies ahead in 2022. The cornerstone of the special is the presentation by Mayor Esser and Economic Development Director Taylor Brown of the mayor’s annual “State of the City.” Esser and Brown will look at the breakdown, impact, and distribution of residents’ tax bills, challenges and successes the city had in 2021, what city leaders forecast in 2022, and more. Let the Madness begin. Or should we say “continue” . . .  While both the Sun Prairie boys’ and girls’ hockey teams have ended their WIAA tournament play, as of this writing both the Cardinals boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are continuing their WIAA tournaments, and the Sun Prairie Media Center will be there with all the coverage. The #3 Cardinals girls’ basketball team, coming off home victories over #14 Middleton and #6 Watertown, will take on #2 Arrowhead in a sectional semifinal on Thursday, March 3, beginning at 7 PM. Even as the Sun Prairie Cardinals’ football team winds down its season with the state championship game, it is also time to look forward to Sun Prairie Media Center’s live coverage of another sport: Boys’ and girls’ basketball. After a 2019-2020 campaign that was cut short and an abbreviated 2020-2021 season, the Sun Prairie Cardinals boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams are excited to be back with a full schedule of games and to be playing in front of fans all season. On Monday, November 1, Culver’s of Sun Prairie held what has become an annual “KIDS-4 Share Night” to raise money for the Media Center’s flagship student media literacy program. The night was a remarkable success, resulting in a Culver’s donation of $711.37 to the Friends of the Sun Prairie Media Center fundraising group. A percentage of all sales at the restaurant from 5 PM to 8 PM on November 1 counted toward the donation total. “Once again the Culver’s Share Night was a great success for us this year,” said Sun Prairie Media Center director Jeff Robbins. “We love working with Alexandria and her entire staff at Culver’s.
